ABOUT
In the fall of 2000, a vision was created.
In the fall of 2000, a dream turned into reality.
In the fall of 2000, two first-year upper rez kids who didn't make any of
McGill's existing a cappella groups decided to take matters into their own hands and form... Soulstice a Cappella.
In their first year, singers Mara Dasco and Steve Kennedy, the founders of Soulstice, sought out singer/beatboxer Shane Saunderson,
and held auditions in the middle of that school year.
Soulstice's first official semester was in the Winter of 2000.
As the years went by, Soulstice evolved. The first album, A Slice of Soul, was recorded in 2003, and was followed by No Passport, No Problem in 2005. Soulstice found itself perofrming in a variety of venues, from hired gigs to charity performances, and everything in between.
In January 2006, Soulstice competed in the International Championship of Collegiate a Cappella and placed first in the quarter-final region, as well as winning two special awards.
Soulstice a Cappella today is a well-established musical presence
in the McGill and Montreal communty, and continues to grow as it is
shaped by new members and experiences.
